Kedzie Announces Bid to Serve Third Term in Wisconsin State Senate
Elkhorn, WI – “For the last eight years, I have had the privilege of representing the people of the 11th Senate District and hope to continue to serve on their behalf to get Wisconsin’s economy back on track,” said Senator Neal Kedzie, as he announced his intentions to return to the Wisconsin State Senate for a third term. A campaign kick-off event will be held this evening at the Evergreen Golf Course in Elkhorn.
Kedzie, who has served in both the Assembly and Senate since 1997, says he’s excited to return to the Legislature next year, one which he hopes has Republicans regaining control of the Senate, along with a Republican Governor and State Assembly. Job creation is the number one priority for Kedzie if he is successful in his campaign for Senate, and knows a Republican-led Legislature can stem the tide of economic damage done by legislative Democrats and Governor Jim Doyle.
“On both a national and state level, we’ve seen our economy go from bad to worse, yet Democrats in the Majority party have advanced a tax and spending agenda like none seen before, only making matters worse” said Kedzie. “But it’s not too late to turn things around and bring businesses and jobs back to Wisconsin where they belong.”
Kedzie’s legislative accomplishments over the last fourteen years are extensive, both fiscally and environmentally. Kedzie is known for his ability to lead on paramount natural resources issues, always maintaining a balance between environmental and economic protection. Issues ranging from wetlands and groundwater protection, regulatory permit streamlining, incentives for going above and beyond environmental compliance, and playing a key role in the historic Great Lakes Water Resources Compact, Kedzie has earned the respect of his colleagues on both sides of the aisle and been recognized for his work from statewide environmental groups and business and industry associations alike.
“Wisconsin has many groups of diverging interests, which can neither be ignored nor taken for granted when crafting sound public policy; I am very proud of my record of creating consensus among those groups and advancing common sense legislation,” Kedzie concluded. “We can do so many great things for Wisconsin when we choose to work with, and not against, each other – but it requires the resolve of an experienced lawmaker, and I believe I have that experience.”
The 11th Senate district includes most of Walworth County; a portion of Waukesha County starting in the south in Eagle and the town of Mukwonago to the east, a portion of the city of Waukesha, north to Hartland and Chenequa, then west to include portions of Oconomowoc and Oconomowoc Lake; a portion of Jefferson County from Palmyra north to the town of Concord, west to the village of Johnson Creek, then south to the Rock County line with the exception of the town of Jefferson; and the town of Wheatland in Kenosha County.
